Facebook Snippets for Posterity

Facebook is a place where most of my "blogging" gets done now - in the form of status updates.  (I don't really "get" Twitter, although I do have accounts.)  It occurred to me that I should go back and have a post with all the status updates involving my daughter, because they are really funny, cute, and show how she is growing.  I did leave out some of the earlier ones that mainly involved my complaints over tantrums and her lack of sleep.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did re-reading them!  Here they are:
Conversation in recliner this morning: Mom, I don't want to get married. Do you know why? Because you are a good mom. I just want a husband, I don't want to get married. I am just going to go to college and get one. (1/12/11)
Conversation in bath tonight: Mommy, did you know that a zebra's stripes are to trick the predators? It fools their eyes. Their predators are tigers and lions, Mom. Did you know that? I learned that today at school.  (1/11/11)
Emily is chattering her daddy's ear off and just keeps touching him. Ahhh, we are complete again! (12/20/10)
"Mommy, my brain went wrong. It is running. It is running too fast!" Oh, girl, welcome to my life! (night before homecoming, 12/19/10)
Emmy just told me she wants to be awake in the middle of the night and be nocturnal. "You know mom, like you, when you do your work."  (12/19/2010)
"Mommy, I am needing lots of love for daddy when he gets home. I am going to kiss him for 45 minutes." (12/14/2010)
Emily is playing an elaborate game of vacation to a castle in South America. Harley is the husband, Oscar is the princess, she is the Queen. I get to be the mommy. (12/8/10)
Daddy doll and I are on a date @ Roast Beef Corn Stickeny (aka Emily's restaurant) and the waitress just ordered for us! What service! (10/22/10)
watching "Charlotte's Web" with Emmy and answering some difficult cuisine questions at the moment. I wonder if she knows I have a pork roast in the crock pot for dinner tomorrow. (9/24/10)
"Mommy, I am angry with you. I want to live by myself somewhere else." This should tell you how my days go as of late. Man, 3.5 must be a tough age to be! (9/23/10)
"Mommy, my body is telling me 'Emily, I need some bacon! I need some bacon!'" (add to this a little dance on "I need some bacon" and it was hysterical!) :)(9/16/10)
"Mommy, I love you much better with no glasses. And I don't like you in mascara." "Oh, really? Why?" "Because you don't look so much pretty!" And there you have it. (9/13/10)
Any advice on how to manage my little curly-locks' hair??? The blood-curdling screams just aren't doing it for me (or her) and shaving is not an option because she "likes her boingies!" (9/8/10)
Emily just said to me, "Tell Daddy to get me some makeup and some jewelry." She is 3, people! Can you say Diva?!? (7/24/10)
"Mommy, your belly is growing! It is growing with a baby!" ***FYI I am NOT PREGNANT!*** Apparently either (a) Weight Watchers isn't working, (b) I am eating too many fruits and veggies, (c) I need to suck in a bit more! Or, all of the above. But, thanks, Em for that wonderful start to my day :) (7/6/10)
"B-I-N-G-O! And that spells Dog House!" Huh? I must've missed that version :) (7/1/10)
Em is cracking me up - her favorite part of her new play kitchen? The telephone! (as if she doesn't have 5 others). Anyways, she is having conversations with everyone, family and friends - even clicking over to use call waiting! Mostly she is talking with daddy, telling him "you know I am coming to get you off that boat, don't you?" Too funny. (6/25/10)
"Mommy, when I fall asleep, my arms melt away." (6/19/10)
My daughter is in the bath making me strawberry, cherry, ribs, honey mustard cake. Yum. (6/13/10)
"Mommy, you're my favorite mommy in the best world!" Snuggling on the couch with my girl after a busy Sunday. Bliss. (6/13/10)
Em in the bath singing "Little curl, little curl, floating in the water." Where does she come up with this stuff? Too cute. (6/9/10)
finds it amusing that after our trip to the aquarium today that Emmy wanted shrimp for dinner. Not so amusing is the fact that our fish was in death throes when we got home. RIP Sashimi. (5/12/10)
Emmy told me tonight, "Jesus gave me to you." I said, "Yes, He sure did!" WOW! Where did she get that? So sweet. (5/5/10)
thinks one of the best parts of this awesome day is that her daughter never even once mentioned presents - the Day itself was gift enough! How great is she? (3/28/10)
I don't think Em has stopped talking to her Gramma since she got here. It is too funny - like white on rice! They are in the bedroom laying down for a nap - we will see how that goes! (3/27/10)
thinks its funny that after watching Little Mermaid that Emily wanted shrimp for lunch! (2/27/10)
my daughter did not appreciate my American Idol-esque rendition of "Part of Your World" from Little Mermaid. (2/25/10)
loves the head-thrown-back and big belly laughs coming from my daughter tonight as I danced the funky chicken - PRICELESS!!! (and absolutely hysterical) (2/21/10)
took a shower while my daughter napped. Well, apparently with all the sick/snow days I haven't been keeping myself up, because now, with some makeup on, jeans, and a hair-do, she is having a meltdown because I "dressed my eyes". Geez, did she forget what I usually look like? (2/3/10)
snow angels, snow ball fight, shoveling with a dust pan, and a ride in a home-made sled - Emmy is in her glory! (1/30/10)
Here's another: She was walking around wearing a big fleece blanket around her like a cape (she was only in a diaper and was so cold - so why did she take her clothes off? but that is another story). She shoved her stuffed elephant into the blanket so he was in front of her and then she said "Mom, look! Elephant is growing in my uterus!" Oh lordy, the child of a nurse... (1/25/10)
I noticed marker all over Emily's arms when I was getting her out of her carseat after the babysitter's. I said, "What's this?" She replied, "my tattoos." And then I had to leave her sleeve up so she could show the puppies. (1/25/10)
Is playing some complex game involving treasures, a xylophone, an old phone/answering machine, and pig and elephant beanie babies. (1/15/10)
Me: Come here, Em. You have a mess on your mouth I need to clean up. Em: But, that's my beard! (1/4/10)
just asked her daughter to help her pick up the mess she made. Em responded, "No, I'm busy right now." Sheesh! (12/28/09)
Emmy, in her sleepy-voice just waking up from nap: Mommy, I slept for two fifty hours! (12/7/09)
Em, this morning, to me: When I get older, I gonna drink wine and borrow your stuff! (12/4/09)
Em: Where is Daddy's dupa? Me: It better be on the ship! Em: What kind of dupa is it? Me: What do you mean? Em: It's a small dupa. Me: Oh. What kind do I have? Em: Your dupa is a big dupa. Me: Thanks, Em! (11/10/09)
went on a nature hike with Ms. Em today and really had a ball. Did not enjoy getting lost in the arboretum minus a map or cell phone, however. At least I got some good exercise carrying my extra 27 lbs on my back - thank God for the Ergo! (11/06/09)
Em, to me while eating her breakfast cucumber (?) : You are a nice mommy. Me: Why? Em: Because I love you! Cold cucumber kisses are the best! (11/06/09)
in an effort to redeem herself from the previous comment, Emily informed Eric and I this evening that we are "her best friends, guys". Talk about heart melting! (11/04/09)
my daughter just told me she had a poop muffin in her diaper!?! (11/04/09)
loves that when we got home from trick-or-treating and our candy picnic in the driveway, Emmy asked for some peppers and put her pumpkin bucket away! (10/31/09)
is listening to her daughter tell her babies in the crib about how she is going to Halloween tomorrow and she is going to wear a costume, and we went to Walmart... Blabs away like her mommy! (10/30/09)
Em, while touching my hair before bed: Mommy, your hair is an octagon? Well, with all the spray, I guess that pretty much sums it up! (10/23/09)
cracking up over Emily. She is wearing my tennis shoes and told me she "needs to exercise." And to put on my video. So I did, and watched her as she T-Tapped her way through. I was eating lunch and at first directed to watch her but then told to look away. When I tried to get the camera, she would stop. Hilarious! Also, she needed "snacks" while doing her routine. Must be her mama's daughter! (10/23/09)
maneuvering a stroller with a glass of wine in hand is tough, especially in wet grass and lots of people as obstacles, but me and my best girl had a blast at the wine festival. Good food, good wine, and good company! (10/17/09)
Em in the bathtub tonight: "Mommy, I have breasts in my milk too! That's I gonna feed my babies." (10/12/09)
Heard at dinner table tonight: "Mommy, Daddy is my favorite man!" (10/8/09)
After announcing after dinner, "I'm done, and I am going to poop after this", my Emmy just went on the potty like a big girl! Took some coaxing, but she did it! Yay! (10/7/09)
one of my proudest parenting moments thus far: teaching my daughter to properly eat dippin' eggs on her own. And she loved it! :) (9/19/09)
Song in the bath tonight: Row row row yer boat gently down da stream, Merry merry merry merry WIPE OUT a dream. Ha! (9/16/09)
Interestingly enough, my daughter requested sushi tonight for dinner. Hmmm.... but Yay! Off we go... (9/16/09)
Em: "Mom, I want to kiss your boob" Me: "Where did you learn the word boob?" (she calls them breasts), Em: "Daddy. Daddy says boobs!" Followed by an immense amount of giggles on her part. Hilarious! (9/16/09)
thinks its funny that Emmy just took a huge poop while reading her books. I always thought it was 'nurture', but maybe its 'nature'! Ha! (9/05/09)
In other news, Hurricane Emily has single-handedly destroyed a Chesapeake household, and damage is still being done. Also, said house is still without a dryer now going on 2.5 weeks! They might have to dig us out of our dirty laundry. Yuck! Really need a clothesline! (9/02/09)
thinks there is no greater sound than that of her daughter giggling hard to her daddy's tickles! (08/27/09)
is getting ready for yet another tea party with her best girl! (08/23/09)
Conversation in the bath tonight - Aunt Anita: Emmy, is your dupa dancing in the water? Emily: No, it not.....it smiles! Ha ha ha! (dupa is the Polish word for butt, fyi). What a card that child o'mine is! (08/21/09)
is amused watching her daughter and aunt having a tea party in her new princess tent castle. (08/21/09)
Kiddie Park was a HUGE hit this morning. My big girl did so good - she made her Mommy so proud! (08/21/09)
Family date night at Sushi!!! Yummy! Em made us so proud by eating some tuna. That's our girl! (08/14/09)
Me: "Who is Mommy's Husband?", Em: "Daddy's your husband", Me: "Very good!", Em: "Daddy my husband, too!", Me: "Well, actually Daddy is your father", Em: "No, he not my father. He is Eric." (So matter of fact she was right and that this was the end of discussion!) Gotta love conversations with a 2 year old! (08/08/09)
watching her daughter's exuberance at her daddy's homecoming and loving every minute of it! (7/3/09)
after saying prayers, my daughter said, "Jesus makes your heart super happy, mom?" And I told her, yes he does. (7/1/09)
as we are leaving the Mexican restaurant where we ate lunch, Emily says "Time for Sushi!" This is my daughter. (7/1/09)
's daughter pooped on the floor right next to her as she was checking FB status updates! (6/26/09)
is recovering from the trampoline with Emily and her sissa! Whoo! (6/19/09)
is listening to her daughter talk/sing to herself over the monitor - absolutely adorable! (6/15/09)
laughing at her daughter's imperative "Don't eat me up!" while I was smooching her up at bedtime! (6/10/09)
was serenaded by the sweetest version of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" while she showered! (and then came out to find my bathroom completely tore up! but such is life with a 2 year old. I did enjoy the singing though!) (6/5/09)
is laughing at her daughter who told her tonight, after being kind of fussy, that "I need some milk to feel better, mommy!" (5/16/09)
ust found out my Daddy is coming next weekend! Woo hoo! Get ready for your 2 year old granddaughter, B-pa. Be afraid, be very very afraid! (4/13/09)
is amazed at the defiance of an almost 2 year old! (3/16/09)
is listening to her daughter "process" her day - talking to herself in the crib. Kind of cute, funny, and a little odd all at the same time... (2/22/09)
is thankful that her husband and baby had such a good time together, even if it meant her being up a little later! (2/17/09)
is listening to Miss Em having a meltdown because she is so overtired! Fun stuff! (2/16/09)
's house looks like a tornado went through it - her name was Emily! (2/10/09)
s hangin' with her favorite girl! (2/6/09)
just painted "dots" on her daughter's fingers and toes as a reward for sitting nicely while she clipped her nails. Emily enjoyed her "manicure"! (2/4/09)
thinks that between her baby and her dachshund there is a conspiracy against her! (and with Eric gone, I am feeling outnumbered!) (1/21/09)
is loving how silly Emmy was when she woke up from her nap. And the whisper talking? Hilarious and precious beyond words... (1/10/09)
went to a "bounce house" with Emmy and is more tired than her! (1/9/09)
is so excited that her baby made poopies and pee pee in the potty! (1/5/09)
is going to take Emmy to see the fishies at their house! After shopping and lunch, but I think she missed the first part! Should be fun! (1/2/09)
is dancing like a baby elephant! (12/22/08)
enjoys the sound of her daughter's laugh more than anything! (12/14/08)
is thanking her lovely hubby for getting her baby to bed - finally! (11/1/08)
survived her baby's first day of daycare (just barely though). (10/20/08)
